Our festivities celebrate the special joy of being Canadian. Locals line up early for the pancake breakfast. Main Street is jammed with people who come from all over southern Alberta to view the parade. Spending our national day in beautiful Canmore is a pleasure that should not be missed.

Become “enraptured”! Join all levels of birdwatchers in this autumn celebration of the ancient migration of the golden eagle along the Canadian Rockies. Share in the spirit of the eagle, take part in guided hikes, or listen as interpreters explain this ancient phenomenon.

Join family and friends as you skate under a starlit sky with lights twinkling against a mountain backdrop on New Year’s Eve. The 10th Street pond features horse and wagon rides, hot chocolate, music and more. We look forward to sharing this popular Canmore tradition with you.

In an extraordinary display of light and community connectedness, residents of Canmore meander through the wintry darkness, lanterns in hand, ensconced in the music and revelry of the night. Free lantern making workshops offered leading up to the event. Lantern Parade to take place on February 1, coinciding with the Opening Reception of the Kid’s Art Exhibition.

The Town of Canmore annually hosts an exhibition to showcase the artistic talent of children and youth in our community at the Canmore Public Library Gallery. Kids’ Art is not a competition, rather a celebration of the imagination.
February 1-18, 2013
Highlights of Canmore’s winter festival include the Trappers’ Ball, the ice carving competition, log sawing competition and the Kid ‘n’ Mutt Races.
